The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the world’s largest arts festival. For three weeks in August it entertains more than a million people with its heady mix of cabaret, children’s shows, comedy, events, exhibitions, theatre and much more.

The Fringe, as it’s more often known, has been running since 1947, when touring theatre groups ‘gate-crashed’ the main Edinburgh Festival.
